The establishment of Maharishi Central University has been inspired by Dr. John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist, and Director of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy (a leading science and policy think-tank) of Maharishi University of Management, founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1971, in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
Dr. Hagelin received his A.B. summa cum laude from Dartmouth College (1975) and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Harvard University (1976 and 1981). He conducted pioneering research at CERN (the European Center for Particle Physics) and SLAC (the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center). His scientific contributions in the fields of electroweak unification, grand unification, supersymmetry and cosmology include some of the most cited references in the physical sciences. He is also responsible for the development of a highly successful Grand Unified Field Theory based on the Superstring.
Dr. Hagelin is therefore at the pinnacle of achievement among the elite cadre of physicists in the world today who have fulfilled Einstein’s dream of a “theory of everything” through their mathematical formulation of the Unified Field—the most advanced scientific knowledge of our time.
However, Dr. Hagelin is unique among scientists in being the first to apply this most advanced knowledge for the practical benefit of humankind. He was the first scientist to realize and declare the equivalence of the self-referral Unified Field of physics with the self-referral unified field of consciousness, which was shown to be at the basis of human physiology by the contemporaneous research of preeminent neuroscientist Dr. Nader Raam.
Dr. Hagelin has published pioneering research establishing the existence of long-range “field effects” of consciousness generated through collective practice of Maharishi’s Transcendental Meditation and its advanced techniques. His research confirms that large meditating groups effectively defuse acute societal stress—thereby preventing negativity, violence, and social conflict, and promoting a high degree of coherence and integration in collective consciousness. Coherent collective consciousness is the basis of freedom and invincibility in national consciousness—the practical foundation for permanent world peace.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Dr. Hagelin was named winner of the prestigious Kilby Award (1992), which recognizes scientists who have made “major contributions to society through their applied research in the fields of science and technology.” The award recognized Dr. Hagelin as “a scientist in the tradition of Einstein, Jeans, Bohr, and Eddington.”
Dr. Hagelin serves (since 2005) as International Director of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace, an organization of leading scientists throughout the world dedicated to ending nuclear proliferation and establishing lasting world peace. Dr. Hagelin also serves as President of the United States Peace Government, a knowledge-based, complementary government composed of hundreds of America’s top scientists, which advocates proven, prevention-oriented solutions to critical social problems.
Because of the extraordinary significance to mankind of Dr. Nader Raam’s scientific breakthrough that consciousness is the basis of human physiology, he was awarded his weight in gold and crowned in October 2000 as “Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace.” Shortly thereafter, Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam’s Global Administration honored Dr. Hagelin as Minister of Science and Technology (2001).
Dr. Hagelin fully deserves the high honors and dignity that have been bestowed upon him from multiple avenues. He is a pride of the human race. Everyone is confident that Maharishi Central University, which Dr. Hagelin conceived, will be a landmark in the advancement of education in the world—and will produce the most competent administrators of society for every forthcoming generation.
